Assistant Professor Dr. Nibal Fadel Farman, the head of the Department of Energy Engineering at the College of Engineering, has attended the thirteenth meeting of the Technical Committee for Renewable Energy on the preparation of standard specifications for solar energy systems in Iraq in the light of the country’s trend towards the use of alternative energy and the enactment of a law on the renewable energy standards for renewable energy systems from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control.
During the meeting, the members discussed the adoption of international and appropriate standards to adapt them to suit the environment of Iraq where the standard specifications for the solar system has been adopted. Also the solar photovoltaic system was previously approved for the generation of electrical power with a capacity not exceeding (1 Mega) and this requirement specifies the safety and performance requirements of the solar photovoltaic system for the generation of electrical power with silicon panels connected to the electrical grid (on-grid), isolated from the grid (off-grid) or hybrid (hybrid) with a capacity not exceeding (1MW), so they discussed the specifications of the tests required for the solar systems.
